Dedicated to Bobby Hatfield and Patrick Swayze

Today's entry features You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' by The Righteous Brothers. Some people may know it as a number of the soundtrack of the film TOP GUN. I used to love this song as a child and The Righteous Brothers was the only one blue-eyed soul I really admired.

The creators of the song are one of the golden songwriter pairs of the Brill building, Barry Mann (of Who Put The Bomb) and Cynthia Weil, and Phil Spector who produced The Ronettes, and The Beatles' album Let It Be later on. In 1964 You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' became a No.1 hit in both the US and the UK.

I especially love the chase part, which thrills me. Bobby Hatfield's tenor rocks.

This song is also one of their hits. Oh yes! Ghost!! Unchained Melody had originally been used for the film Unchained in 1955 as a theme song, which another singer had sung. Also many artists covered it and Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers also released in 1965. Since the Bobby version was used on the film Ghost that became a blockbuster in 1990, many people may still remember this song as the theme of Ghost.

While, another Righteous Brother, Bill Medley sings this number. Do you remember the film Dirty Dancing? I used to like it so much I watched the video over and over. Not to mention I've still got the soundtrack CD as well.

Sadly, Bobby Hatfield and Patrick Swayze have already passed away... Rest in peace.
